The blade has a proper geometric KISSAKI (切先 - tip of blade) with a VERY faint YOKOTE (横手 - transition to the tip) and BOSHI (帽子 -tip temper line)

and sometimes the angle of the spring changes at the break point

There are remnants of some hand stitches that may have been used to affix this armband to a uniform sleeve

Upon his initial training and schooling, he was assigned to Company G, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was wounded a staggering three times while overseas.
