Before the out break of World War Two neutral country Portugal purchased 1000 MG34 from Germany via Rheinmetall. Once in the possession of the Portuguese, the Mg34s we lightly used which makes guns from that shipment especially desirable to collectors. The Portuguese also developed a special folding Anti Aircraft tripod mount known to collectors as the "music stand" for use with both the MG13 and Mg 34 machine guns.
